Captain
Gary De Los Santos
Welcome from
Texas Rangers Company "G"
Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team
Captain Gary De Los Santos
Headquarters Captain
and Captain UCIT, Austin
Welcome
to the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Team
(UCIT) web page.
On
September 1st, 2001, the 77th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1748
and Senate Bill 786 which created the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation
Team (UCIT).
Lt.
Hank Whitman, San Antonio
Geographically,
UCIT is headquartered in San Antonio. UCIT is unique as far as
boundary lines from the rest of the Ranger Companies. UCIT was
created to assist law enforcement agencies on unsolved homicides
or major crimes in the State.
The purpose of UCIT is to assist those police agencies that request
their assistance in cases involving homicides and major felonies only.
By using new technology in the fields of DNA, NIBIS (National Integrated
Ballistic Information System), revisiting old crime scenes, reinterviewing
witnesses and others, cases that have been left unresolved now have
an increased probability of now being solved.
UCIT is commanded by a Lieutenant with all Rangers stationed in San
Antonio.
