Greetings from Col. Thomas A. Davis, Director

Welcome to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum Web site. As you will soon discover, this is one of the better designed, more interesting and useful Web sites you'll find anywhere in the world.

In exploring this site, you'll soon realize that the 107 men and women of today's Texas Rangers are vastly different from those Rangers hired by Stephen F. Austin to protect his fledgling colony in 1823. The history of the Rangers is long, colorful and sometimes controversial. But three things have not changed over the years: The power of the word "Ranger," a proud tradition, and a continuing commitment to protect the people of Texas.

As Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the modern-day law enforcement agency that includes the Texas Rangers, I urge you to visit the museum in person.
