Marjorie Warren Schwarting
October 3, 1923 – January 21, 2006

Marjorie Warren Schwarting, passed away peacefully January 21, 2006.

Marjorie was born in Weslaco, TX on October 3, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Reuben William Warren II. Her mother was Winifred Smith Warren of Waco. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1940. She played the cornet in the school band and was asked to direct the band when Corpus played Waco High at football in 1939. She began Baylor University in 1940 as a music major and graduated with a BBA in 1948. During a brief hiatus from studies, she worked as registrar for the fledgling San Antonio College. She married Bland Hugh Schwarting in June of 1948 while Bland was in medical school at Baylor. After their marriage, she did secretarial work in Houston while Bland finished his last two years at Baylor. While Bland served in the Air Force, they lived in Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Dayton Ohio and San Antonio, where they have lived since 1957.

Margie served as a Gray Lady in Tripler and Brooke General Hospitals. She was a Daughter of the Republic of Texas, her great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Gholson, having served as a Texas Ranger in the early days of the Republic of Texas. Margie was very active in the Bexar County Medical Auxiliary. In 1968, she was President of the Auxiliary and also General Arrangements Chairman for the State Convention. Later, she was Southern Regional Vice President of the State Medical Auxiliary. She was a member of the San Antonio Symphony League, Conservation Society of San Antonio, Mc Nay Art Museum and Beautify San Antonio.

She was a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church in San Antonio, and served as the Church Treasurer for many years. Marjorie’s hobby was reading, and as a little girl, she wanted to read every book in the local library.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harry William Warren of Waco. She is survived by her husband Bland, her daughter Laura Elizabeth Schwarting, her son, Bland Hugh Schwarting, Jr., brothers Larry Franklin Warren and Reuben William Warren III, and many nieces and nephews.
