Litt Truitt Carpenter
August 20, 1923– March 7, 2005

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame is sad to report the passing of retired Texas Ranger Litt Truitt Carpenter of Nacogdoches, Texas.

“Carpe” Carpenter was born in Canton, Texas. He served in the Signal Corps in Germany and France during World War II and completed officer training before his discharge.

He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1947 as a Highway Patrol Trooper, rose to the rank of Sergeant and served in Nacogdoches and Waco.

In 1970 he was appointed to the Texas Rangers and served with Company "D" in Seguin. He retired 1977 with 30 years serviceand returned to Nacogdoches where he worked as a Deputy Sheriff and as a court bailiff for the 145th District Court.

We extend the sympathies of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame trustees and staff to the Carpenter family.
