We are Expanding to Better Serve our Researchers!

The Texas Ranger Research Center has moved to temporary offices for a complete renovation. The new Tobin and Anne Armstrong Texas Ranger Research Center (shown above) will reopen on or before August of 2012.

Due to construction and limited space the Research Center will be operating on a reduced level. We will be unable to accommodate walk-in researchers without appointments. We will be glad to schedule appointments, in advance, on a Monday-Friday schedule.

Please call 254/750-8631 to schedule an appointment.

We are sorry for this inconvenience, but we look forward to assisting you in the new Tobin and Anne Armstrong Texas Ranger Research Center.

Thank you — the Armstrong Texas Ranger Research Center Staff

About the Research Center: In 1975 the Moody Foundation of Galveston, Texas provided a grant to establish a small library of basic reference books on the Texas Rangers. The late Mrs. Mary Moody Northern was instrumental in securing support for the library. This was the beginning of what is now the State-designated library and archives for the Texas Rangers.

Mission: The mission of the Research Center is to serve the public and advance knowledge of the Texas Rangers by acquiring, preserving, interpreting and exhibiting materials relating to Texas and the American West, law enforcement, Southern Plains Indian history and ethnography, and firearms history and technology.

Funding: The Center receives no State funding; all operating monies for the Center are raised from donations, fees and general museum revenues, which are kept as reasonable as possible. If the Center has been useful to your research or project please consider financial support.
